Decluttering, Organizing

Yesterday we decluttered the kitchen, somewhat.

I moved the living room rug so that it looks more centered. It was not as hard as I feared.

Made a stove top rice and vegetable curry from a Tofu Curls recipe. It will be the basis for a casserole for tonight’s dinner.

I saved us some money by removing an optional coverage from our Homesite policy this morning. Called the ARAG attorney to follow up on my email from 10 days ago.

Removed years of mineral stains from the downstairs toilet with citric acid. We were amazed.

Jett’s food arrived yesterday, just in time.

Tiffany, Remedy Hall

Had a lunch/supper: leftovers, salad, hummus. I had an ice cream cone.

Started clearing kitchen clutter.

Nice text conversation today with Peter, reminiscing on good times. Triggered by my finding Frank DiGi’s obit. He suffered with Alzheimer’s for 14 years. Jane is a noble soul.

Made some small final changes to Andi’s app, deployed it and did some data entry at the Hall.

Drove Ron to his medical office. Good meeting with Tiffany. She’s referring him to their Radiology department for an MRI and to Williamstown PT to strengthen his legs and arms. He’s been crabbing about that for years, so this is very good.

ALDI Once, Dollar General Twice

Made coffee, showered, dressed, picked up Ron’s fruit juice at DG, took care of Jett.

Went to the Bennington ALDI for a grocery shop, found almost everything on my list. Nice ride up and back, stopped at a farm stand for a spaghetti squash.

Ron got up as I was putting things away. Tipped his chair, I had to pull him up, fourth time in recent days.

His chair caught on the hooked rug so I removed the rug, vacuumed the wood floor and put the rug in the living room to be cleaned on both sides when I have the energy.

Played fetch with Jett, cleaned up three trumps, stowed yard clippings from a couple of days ago. Jett and I went back to Dollar General for his food, a thermometer (neither of ours works) and a couple of other things that I couldn’t find at ALDI.

Bought a test kit for COVID and two types of flu at the CVS next to ALDI. Ron tested negative for all three. Good because I would have hated to put off the planned visit with Betsy and her sister.

I’m very tired and hurting a little!

Quiet Day

I had tentative plans but stayed home, mostly to save money (I overspent the last few days) but also to be here in case Ron needed something. No farmer’s market, no lunch at Greylock Glen, no trip to the new bakery.

No freebies, either, for that matter. It’s “Family and Friends Weekend” at Williams, so it’s a bit crowded around the town. Yesterday’s Log Lunch was mobbed. They did have enough food this time, though.

Ron’s feeling a little better. Still pretty sore but in slightly better spirits.

Our trees are quite pretty, bright orange and yellow. Sun’s been in and out all day.

Have made some corrections to the application. Glad I didn’t rush to return it this time. Yesterday was Andi’s birthday and she wanted an easy day anyway.

Jett continues not to eat.

Employability: At What Cost?

I have bad hair. Also a wide nose, no cheekbones and bad teeth.

Getting those fixes would cost the following:

Nose: $15,000 to $50,000

Teeth: up to $60,000 for a full mouth replacement

Cheek implants: $7,000 to $15,000

Breast reduction: $3,000 to $20,000

$85,000-145,000

Ron’s Very Sick

Ron is running a slight fever (a little over 100) but is in tremendous pain from the fall yesterday.

He’s been in bed all day. Took a couple doses of aspirin and his night meds.

Jett has been sleeping next to him since earlier in the evening.

I attended the Log Lunch and brought home two enchilada plates from Tony’s Sombrero. Watched many hours of tv. Fascinated by the political videos, including one about the sinking Florida economy, an intriguing suggestion that New England and New York secede and a couple of Talking Heads performances and interviews. Also watched the 50th anniversary special segment on PBS NewsHour and tonight’s episode of “Matlock”.

Greylock Glen Outdoor Center, Jaeschke Orchards, ARAGLegal

I got in touch with an attorney who was referred by ARAGLegal. Would like to start the process of developing a trust, either revocable or irrevocable.

Heard from Toyota, they received the paperwork that shows I cancelled the old registration. They forwarded it to the appropriate department. There is hope that I may someday get a refund from the Town.

Cooked a huge potato and steamed greens for lunch. Placed the shelves from the heavy bookcase I brought home the other day on Ron’s work table in the sunroom. With a little more organization, that’ll help free up space for actual projects.

Ron didn’t feel well, took the day to rest. I took Jett for a ride and walks, first to Jaeschke Orchards, then to Greylock Glen Outdoor Center. Brought home Jonagolds which are fabulous. The Outdoor Center has beautifully maintained gravel trails, also fabulous.

I’ve taken the rest of the day off, too. Tomorrow afternoon will be busy.

Rain and Chili

Woke up very late, almost 9 am.

Onion, yellow pepper, veg burger substitute, canned tomatoes, black beans, leftover spaghetti sauce. Chili and garlic powders, smoked paprika.

Jett’s pink ball is missing, tragically.

Did a laundry.

Also made oatmeal/raisin “things” using yogurt and Truvia in lieu of the “good stuff”. Jet likes them but I have to remove the raisins first, word is they are deadly for dogs.

Worked on the application. Got another requirement from Andi, mark patrons as Inactive but keep their activities.

Posted a help wanted in the FPF. Looking for an A/V setup.

Toyota advised me to get a document from the RMV, first I’d heard that I needed it, so I got it today on line, thank goodness and uploaded it to them. This allows them to notify the Town that my old registration is cancelled and, thus, must refund the excise tax payment to them. Toyota will then reimburse me. We should all live so long!

Another Gorgeous Day; Bravecto and Sentinel

Jett and I did a brief exploration of a new spot on Mailbox Hill yesterday. Great views from there and from Octagon Road. Got cheese from Cricket Creek farm on the way home.

This morning I picked up a free shelf unit but it’s unusable here as is and mostly particle board. I cannibalized it for parts and that might actually work.

Jett eventually ate his much-hated Bravecto. Sentinel went down easily.

Ron did a shop at Big Y today. Peet’s was on sale.

I did some touch up painting and caulking on the deck while Jett kept me company. Supposed to rain tomorrow but still mild.

Pulled up the rest of the tomato supports and put them away.

Ron watched the Denver/NY game. I made a small casserole with a little eggplant, greens, onion, pepper, tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese.
