WindTunnel

I’d taken the WindTunnel apart to clear a clog. Not sure I ever got it removed completely but it’s working better now. Ron reattached the brush cover and we figured out how to re-insert the HEPA filter.

I did a little raking in front and worked on MRS.

Busy Day, Cold Afterwards

It’s in the low 30’s but feels colder than it did at 20 degrees this morning.

First thing today I loaded the truck with the four bags of leaves that have been sitting in the shed since the Fall and brought them and a tarp-full to the transfer station. Ended up putting three of the bags in paper recycling, saved the fourth.

Watched the top men’s free skate at the World Skating Championship and was thrilled that Ilia Malinin is champion again!

Ron and I went to a fundraiser for a coop school in Hancock. Came home with a bunch of pastries, a couple of sourdough bagels, a cute decorated plaster cow ornament and a birdhouse, the last of four made by the children from 300 year old wood!

We took the long way to Walmart for my meds and a few grocery items.

Salad for supper. Jett was a madman, barked for a good half hour.

Memory Evaluation

Out the door at 9 to get the results of Ron’s memory tests: scored high in intelligence and vocabulary, lacking in attention and short-term memory.

Next is a referral to a neurologist, as we expected, for a medical diagnosis.

We stopped at the A-frame for biscotti, scones and a blueberry ginger cake. We still have the lemon cake from yesterday: too many sweets!

Ron and I went to the transfer station to drop off the Christmas tree and wreath, leaves and paper. I collapsed after that.

Made a stir fry for dinner with a bunch of old frozen vegetables: good!

Jett was a lunatic. Ron took him out 3 times to play fetch.

Training for Jett

We had an orientation at a training school in North Adams. Their program looks like a good fit for Jett.

Had a quick lunch afterwards at Berkshire Food Project and brought home some great looking wheat bread and rolls.

I am hurting today, legs and arms.

Finding the parallels between the Trump regime and “The Tudors” quite remarkable.

Having found the iPods and charger, I set up the hearing aid application for myself.

Did a small cleanup of the little front garden.

Continued work on MRS.

Made a pineapple pudding cake.

Endoscopy, Colonoscopy; One Gallon Blood Donation Pin

Ron followed all of the instructions for the procedures and by 3:15, he was done.

In the two hours he was at the North Adams Hospital, Jett and I picked up groceries at the Salvation Army, washed the car and bought laundry detergent at Stop & Shop. I also donated blood and received a 1 gallon pin!

Ron ate some snacks and veg lasagna for supper. We started Season 2 of The Tudors. Enjoying it this time around.

Yesterday I pulled up stakes and did some volunteer work at the new community garden on Bridges Road. A friend was there and I got to meet two other workers. It was raining and I wasn’t wearing a coat so was assigned to the homeowner’s garage to pull staples and rip tape off cardboard that was the foundation for the new beds. Compost to follow.

Not Our Best Day

Jett ate most of Ron’s breakfast, so I made waffles for consolation.

I carried a bucket load of dog turds to the truck.

Ron made it to the transfer station before closing.

Ron’s been unhappy about Rembrandt C being discontinued. I did some research and found that there are options and ordered some for him today.

Tried vacuuming the living room rug. The vacuum cleaner was clogged. I took it partially apart but couldn’t find the clog. Meanwhile, my machinations resulted in piles of dirt, pine needles and dog hair on the carpet.

I thought the shop vac would work, but the hose had fallen off, the bag had disconnected and the inside of the canister was filthy. My old Hoover was a big help, but meanwhile, I discovered more dog leavings on the rug so had to clean those up first. Thank goodness for Bissell cleaning liquid.

In spite of having two outdoor sessions today with Ron, Jett was a basket case. So we tried playing fetch in the living room. Looks like we misplaced one of his toys in the process. While searching for the toy, I found an old banana peel.

Have been receiving out-of-space messages from DropBox for weeks, so I started deleting old photo files.

Spring Solstice

Jett had a terrible, sickly trump yesterday – in Millie’s yard. Ron had taken him for a ride to do errands and he bolted as soon as he got home.

He trumped in the living room sometime last night or early this morning. Normal looking at least. He didn’t eat much yesterday but had breakfast today. I cleaned it and since I was on floor duty, swept the kitchen.

Made vegetarian hot dogs and a big Caesar salad for lunch.

I may have TMJ. Maybe a coincidence, but the other day I tried rinsing with a hydrogen peroxide solution. After that I noticed a “clicking” when I ate and today my teeth hurt. I figured it was stress but hope to hang on until my regular appointment with the dentist on the 31st.

Tried Insurify for car insurance but it only provided 6 month policies with Progressive and Liberty Mutual so hard to compare with GEICO.

Ron finished and mailed his intake forms for the memory evaluation next Friday.

Reviewed the current rebate rules for heat pumps. Looked up local contractors, left a message for Ashley Swift.

Have to wait to clear beds until air temps are consistently above 50 degrees, maybe mid-April.

We Blew It

Ron had to reschedule his GI examinations to next Monday. We’d forgotten the prohibitions from eating solid foods or raw fruits and vegetables; we’d also hadn’t picked up his prep med.

We got a call from the memory evaluation services office requesting his intake paperwork, which he didn’t finish. They kindly emailed it to me so we can complete it and send it back – return email doesn’t seem to work, unfortunately.

If this weren’t disruption enough, Ron lost one of his hearing aids. We looked outside and in his “little room”, but haven’t found it.

We both went outside with Jett. Ron played retrieve, I shoveled the old snow near the deck.

Grooming!

Brought Jett to his old groomer yesterday in Peru/Hinsdale. He was more of a mess than we realized – poor doggo!

Hope, the groomer, did a fantastic job. She shaved him and cleaned his ears and rear end. She spent a fair amount of time with me explaining what she planned to do. We booked his next appointment by coincidence on Ron’s birthday. Very nice setup in her home and she allowed her two dogs to play with Jett, which I’m sure he enjoyed.

We had lunch at Hot Harry’s in Dalton, home of Crane Papers. Gigantic burritos and chips. Did a quick shop at Price Shopper in Pittsfield.

All three of us slept in this morning.
