It’s Just My Personality

Yesterday was a bad day; hope it doesn’t get repeated.

It could have been worse, certainly, and maybe it’s the heat and humidity that’s getting to me.

Realized this morning that I left the sprinkler on all night.

This morning, I am ready to strangle Fluffles to shut him up!

And it’s only mid-July.

Demo Day, Date Night

Ron took us to dinner at the Chatham Kream ‘N Kone last night after a busy day and a very enjoyable visit to Munson Gallery (the oldest art gallery in the US) to see our friends Lillia and Herb’s opening.

We made a stop afterwards to the Job Lot across the street. Couldn’t find what we went in for (weights), but we did pick up two vintage Hilton silverplate demitasse spoons for a quarter each.

About twenty of us, including Lillia, Herb and I, had spent the morning (8:30 to 12:30) demonstrating across the street from Plymouth District Court in support of our friends the Pilgrim 14. The outcome of the hearing was what they wanted; there will be a trial in February.

Beat, beat, beat

Ridiculously busy day.

We just finished packing up the truck for a demonstration tomorrow at Plymouth district court.

We picked up and set up a used, very good condition grill for Peter.

Back to Edgewater to pay the power washing guys from CollegePro and sign off on the job.

Orientation at Highfield for house tour docents. Bought my ticket as well.

Ron had PT. I punted on Town Hall and New Bedford.

I fed the tomatoes, did some watering here and across the street.

Filled up the truck.

Runways

There is so much air traffic in the back yard that it looks like O’Hare: birds, butterflies, bees. A lot of fun to watch.

I fed the roses today as well as the container plants. Picked up a gorgeous begonia and hanger at Soares. Back yard looks pretty good right now.

Spray, Mow, Weed, Water, Prune

It was blazing hot this morning. Even so, I mowed the back today and while at it, pulled out handfuls of weeds. Mowed the front lawn yesterday afternoon.

Hummer came by the oval twice, along with the goldfinches that live around here. The hummer likes the Bee Balm and the purple flowers but ignores the nectar I put out today.

Sprayed Eight on the roses and the wild flowering vine, which have been attacked by Japanese beetles.

We put up a nice canopy in the back yard the other day.

Fourth of July, Ed and Judy’s Fiftieth

We didn’t get much rain at all, and we completed all of our planned activities.

Picked up some nice used planters at Mahoney’s and on-sale impatiens to decorate the trellises.

Peter was in good humor at the hospital and has a spectacular room. We were glad to see him; showing our age, we chatted about food prices and medical problems…

Stopped off at Market Basket for watermelon for the party and a few things for us. Picked up a 50th anniversary card and a Mass. Gold lottery ticket for Ed and Judy.

Cathy was telling us about her niece’s early August wedding, and the price of weddings these days. She’s seen one or two doozies at her club.

I wish we’d had a real wedding, or even just a party, but I invested in buying this house instead. We were hoping for a MacInnis reunion this year, but Ron’s family is so scattered, no one quite got it together.

Fourth of July; Rain (I Am Ecstatic)

Any morning that starts with rain is a blessing for the gardener, and it looks like we’re in for several hours of it. Both Ron and I have been watering like mad, so this is a nice break for us both.

We (mostly Ron) put up a couple of trellises yesterday to hide the detested snowplow in the driveway next door. I aim to put up some flowers today if I can find half-bowls at a good price.

We want to visit Peter, drop off bluefish for Kathy and pick up a surround sound system at Cindy’s. We’re expected later in Wareham.
