Peter suggested I consider the Caribbean island of Montserrat as a retirement destination.
Following their last volcanic eruption in 1997, Montserrat’s real estate values have declined to affordable levels: according to one website, you can buy a 2-bedroom, 2-bath villa with a fabulous ocean view for under US$200,000.
Gardener’s Diary
Looks like we have another good day for melt, and thank heaven for it.
Even with last week’s relatively mild weather, we still have a foot or more of snow in some places.
Mother and Father of the Year, Part I
Read this, but only on an empty stomach.
Oh, and this Lexus-driving pair, aptly named the Dollars, are the adoptive parents of the 5 abused kids, ages 12-16.
Imagine that.
Foot In It – Again
Seems like the Bush Administration has some serious holes in its vetting process.
First, there were the embarassing revelations about Bernard Kerik.
Now, the President’s aides have egg on their faces once again in the person of Willie Dunn, former felon, who was honored at the State of the Union for his recent anti-gang work.
Rain
It’s raining, and while outside is cold and damp as a result, what a relief to see precipitation in non-solid form.
And it IS melting the evil white stuff (EWS), which has settled a good 8 inches or more since the last snow storm.
The Code Room
A team of MSDN Events Managers have put together a professionally-produced, non-goof-off, “reality” show called The Code Room about a team of .NET developers who are tasked with writing an e-commerce app in 5 hours – before their laptop batteries run out.
Sometimes It Takes So Little…
…. to make it a good day.
Like, having central heating that works, indoor plumbing, hot water, reliable electricity, fast internet.
Okay, these are not LITTLE things, as we are reminded in the news reports from Baghdad.
Old, New, Borrowed, Blue
A friend of Peter’s has issued a challenge on his weblog to write an entry that incorporates old, new, borrowed and blue posts.
I don’t know if he checks mine, but Corey, if you’re out there, this one’s for you:
Awesome Blog

Snow, More Snow
The Boston area has broken records going back over 100 years for total snowfall in a single month.
We hear that somewhere in Eastern Massachusetts, people are frolicking under a sunny sky. But here in Mudville, or maybe it’s Siberia, it is STILL SNOWING, and there is no joy as a result.
