Rain

It’s raining, and while outside is cold and damp as a result, what a relief to see precipitation in non-solid form.
And it IS melting the evil white stuff (EWS), which has settled a good 8 inches or more since the last snow storm.

For the past couple of days, we’ve had a break from the arctic air, which made it easier to clear away the snow that had partially buried the gas grill.
I’d filled the propane tank right before the end of summer and haven’t used it much since, so last night, after doing a perfunctory check of the connections, was able to cook a steak and a burger just after twilight.
Today, I shoveled over 100 square feet of snow to clear a path for the mail carrier and his truck. I’ve been using a basket to collect mail since the blizzard, figuring the EWS would be almost impossible to clear because it had been packed solid by the plows.
Turned out, it wasn’t too bad, and I was even able to chip away the ice that was at the bottom of the pile.
They say the weather should be about the same through the weekend, and wouldn’t that be nice?
