Superdelegates

The current spin by the Sandernistas is that the Democratic party superdelegate rules are “unfair”.

Enough with the ignorant paranoia and learn some history: the Democratic party created that system to avoid the 1972 McGovern/Eagleton convention disaster, which resulted in a Nixon/Agnew victory in the General.

Those are the rules, and BS knew it going in as a Democrat. If he’d wanted to run as an Independent, he wouldn’t have been subject to those rules.

I’m betting that the patriarchy is getting a good laugh from the catfighting between female Hillary and Bernie supporters.

Endometriosis

Lena Dunham, the star of Girls, is on what I hope is a short medical leave because of endometriosis.

I was horrified to read that some doctors still refuse to treat this disease because of their belief that women’s pain is imaginary.

It reminded me of the years I battled with this and how angry I was with this body which betrayed and tortured me every damned month.

I wonder if that’s how cancer patients feel.

On to South Carolina

I think it’s naive to assume that the Black community in South Carolina isn’t affected by the same envy that buried the Clinton campaign in New Hampshire.

Having gotten to know our neighbors across the street, I’ve seen the sacrifices that people make to be part of the 1%.

Naturally, you have to be born with looks, charm and the “right” physique – for men, tall, for women, petite.

You also have to have a little luck:  timing for one.  No one succeeds without opportunity.

But after that, it’s a matter of discipline, and for that reason, I can’t help but admire people who have “made it” on their own.

Snow II

No one went to work today.  The storm started at 6 am and ended early.  We had enough daylight to clear the driveway and front walkway (Ron), shovel the deck (me) and clean off the truck.

This snow was light and fluffy, not like the one last weekend.

Jim pulled the trigger on MRS and Nicole and I have been busy tying up loose ends.  I’m pretty much done with dotMailer.  Gift certificates is up next, I think.

I’m tired.

Facebook Politics

Is the Zika virus spreading? Witness the tragedy of microcephaly, reflected in so many comments.

As she has done before, Madeleine Albright made a stupid comment. However, no one faulted Black voters for supporting Barack Obama even though his credentials for the Presidency were thin. Any woman who’s had it so easy that she doesn’t appreciate the moral significance of electing a female President of the US is extremely fortunate, to say the least.

Maoist moral bullying…One of my conservative friends argues that having one moral foundation is dangerous, because you’re much more likely to develop a kind of a mania about it. …

JONATHAN HAIDT: Yes, that’s right. It’s this Marcusian rhetorical trick. You don’t engage the person’s arguments. You say things that discredit them as a racist or a sexist.

JOHN LEO: How do they learn that? The young don’t read Herbert Marcuse.

Furnace Filter, Snow Blower Oil Change

Ron got these done today.

Furnace filter replacement went without incident.  Not so much with the snow blower; Ron ignored my suggestion to put down newspaper and ended up getting oil all over the deck and the driveway.

He tried hooking up a hose to the hot water pipe leading to the outdoor shower, but the hose was frozen solid.  So, I picked up a new hose at TrueValue and dumped an entire bottle of Dawn on the oil slicks.

Yes, I was raving mad.

NH Debate

Screamed and pounded the bureau as I watched the Democrat debate last night on MSNBC.com Glad that Hillary called out BS on his cheap shots about her alleged Wall Street connections.

“Clinton’s campaign manager, Robbie Mook, denied suggestions his candidate may have come across as too aggressive by accusing Sanders of “artful smears”.

“Senator Sanders has repeatedly made veiled accusations against her. All she was asking him to do was lay it out,” he said.”

Bravo.

Unpleasant exchange with a friend on Facebook. I hadn’t realized that being “beautiful” equates in her mind to good health. She suffered a lot mentally while she was receiving chemo.

Ron continues to talk about “we” in reference to his prior. I have nothing of value to him; for all his complaints, I think those years were happy for him. Not like now when we struggle financially and physically.

It’s been raining all night, might start snowing in a little while.

Don’t Know Why

AmazonPrime/Music includes Norah Jones’ first album, and I’ve been listening to it for the past two days.

It brings back one of the very few good memories from my otherwise horrible and best forgotten past.

I first heard “Don’t Know Why” in Marion, Mass, working for a small web dev company whose offices were on the top floor of an old house just down the street from Tabor.

I’ve lost touched with the two guys who co-owned the company, and that’s a shame. They hosted my CapeCoder website for a while, moved to Maine, and may have dropped out of Tech altogether.

Thank goodness for the good people, they are few and far between, especially in this wretched business.

Food, Good News All Around

Happy about the Iowa Dem caucus results, happy about Peter’s new job and Paul’s semi-exoneration in court. Moonakis has been sold to Karen, the long-term manager – also good news.

Neurologist confirmed that I have carpal tunnel in both wrists, worse on the left. Surgery ahead if the trigger finger acts up again. Testing was weird; I feel for anyone who’s been tased.

About the doc: his office has the feel of a small but inviting living room. I walked in to “A Love Supreme” and picked up a New Yorker while I was waiting to be seen. I honestly didn’t want to leave! The music in particular was a complete pleasure after the assault of the wretched adolescent crap at the Lion.

Cooked today: soy/honey slow cooker chicken for lunch and a potato/bacon/sausage/onion coddle for supper. Instant pudding, too. Kitchen smells great. Picked up some good manager’s specials this week, so we are set for a while.

I am almost done with MRS.
