I’m a Moderate (Son of a Gun)

Found a link to a quiz that originally appeared in the October 28-30 issue of USA Weekend and scored in the Secretary Powell range, which is not bad company to be in.
Now, I can say “We Moderates hate the Bush Administration”, and get away with it.
Check it out, it only takes about 5 minutes to complete.

Gardener’s Diary

The temperature dropped over 20 degrees in an hour and a half, and thank goodness – we seem to be done, for now, with the record heat.

Slushies for Kids

It being hot outside (see prior blog entry), my youngest grandchild, James, recruited me to bring the crushed ice machine to his preschool today.

By the way, on Vancouver Island, it’s in the mid-60’s.
Some folks have all the luck!

Offshore Wind

And, what a mercy, I now have screens on ALL my windows, having put up the last one in no time this evening.

Gardener’s Diary

I’ve been amazed at the resilience of the seemingly fragile new-growth spring plants, which withstood a brutal Nor’easter earlier this week.
The only casualties were some very tiny Coleus which I’d put in just before the storm. Everything else not only survived, but apparently thrived with all the rain, even though it seems we’ve had maybe 15 minutes of sun since last weekend.
