Peter has been worried about a massive tree limb that dangles over the back yard, and after three tries, I found an arborist, my next door neighbor’s employer, who is willing to take it down today.
Peter has also been wanting to power spray the porch, which still has vestiges of the lousy paint job from four years ago, and I’ve reserved a unit at Taylor Rental for late today/tomorrow.
That’ll mean sanding and staining the deck in the weekends to come. I’ll be a very happy person when that job is over.
My two favorites, the larkspur and evening primrose, are blooming, and the first nasturtium flower(from seed) appeared yesterday.
The $6.88 wave petunia on the back porch has done very well, best deal this year.
I threw the contents of a couple of last year’s seed packets in the flower boxes. A lot turned out to be weeds, but some others could be carnations. Except for a couple of healthy-looking plants, also on the porch, the Morning Glories were a disappointment again.
After last year’s disaster, I didn’t prune the Montauks.
It worked to spray the fairy rose, it had a nice bloom earlier in the season.
Transplanted the poor little Blue Fescue that had been overpowered by the wild and now gigantic Indigo, and the little ornamental grass seems to be holding its own, along with the Jacob’s ladder, which I moved when it became overshadowed by a pine tree that abuts the shade garden.
CM and I are heading over to the discount plant place in Falmouth in a little while, it’s their bargain weekend, the end of their season.
We haven’t had rain for a while, but it’s been so humid that the gardens haven’t required constant watering. Good for the plants, takes the starch out of humans.
It seems like all of the garden tours have been scheduled on weekdays this year, so I’ve missed every one of them. All in all, the season has been quiet so far.
