At the beginning of the season – with everything that needs to be done to get the gardens up to speed – I decided not to plant anything except for vegetables.
Didn’t work out that way this year. Like every other year, I found a few “had to haves”, like the butterfly bushes, one of which was pretty badly damaged with the tree work; the delphs; five small dappled sun/woodland shade bushes at half price; and this week, 100 tulip bulbs, purchased in part with a White Flower Farms gift certificate.
Most of the bulbs are in the back “U”, but I did put in a new tulip bed that extends the front corner garden. I’d forgotten how hard it is to dig a new bed.
Ron picked up mulch at Scenic Roots. He’s mowing the lawn now.
