I had guests last night, including one of the top Microsoft architect/developers in the US, Sam Gentile, who endured 3 hours of traffic to present to our local User Group.
Sam’s visit provided the incentive needed to get my house in order, and an excuse to buy about $18 worth of improvements for my deck, which had been repaired and repainted earlier this summer by my incredible friends across the street.
As I sit here on Saturday morning, the thought occurs that I do live in a cute little house, which definitely has a cottage flavor: old but not antique furniture, the (new) windchime, a handmade afghan on the guestroom bed, a beautiful piece of stained glass received in trade for work on a local artist’s website, the summery French provincial-style white and blue tablecloth, the flower boxes on the deck.
A little paint, wainscot and laminate flooring would polish the place off, but nonetheless, I was proud of my little house last night, and grateful that I could offer hospitality here.
