Planting Today

Planted today: 4 tomatoes, squash, cuke, melon, pumpkin(?), second bag of day lilies, basil, rosemary, forget-me-nots, marigolds. Used two of the Earth Boxes.

Ripped up the extra paper from the new plot.

The leek is growing! Also, a couple more asparagus. First bag of day lilies seem to be doing quite well. Amazing since I haven’t been able to pay much attention during the eye surgeries.

Pruning, spraying tomorrow.

Ron drove to Hyannis Toyota so I could fetch my truck before traffic got crazy. No charge for replacing the oxygen sensor. Peter thinks it’s been done before.

Stopped off at Breakaway in Centerville, picked up some tick repellent.

Got a warning message from the OS about creating a system restore disk. They were out at iCape, so I picked up a flash drive (on sale) as well as Omeprozole with Magnesium (on sale) at CVS.

Ron finished the bathroom closet shelf. I started putting away.

Ron worked for the Rec Department today. He picked up on-sale hamburger from Roche on the way home.

Seem to be a lot of people here this weekend.

Third Day of Getting Up Early

Had a mammo appointment at InMed this morning at 8:30. It’s only every two years, so happy to have it out of the way. The tech, Hope, is very skilled.

Ron and I caravanned to Hyannis Toyota to have the Check Engine light looked into. Turns out it was a bad Oxygen sensor, and they aren’t charging me.

We stopped by Whole Foods, had lunch there (Meh). We went to Home Depot for Ron, didn’t find what he wanted, but he was able to pick up the equipment for his shop at Harbor Freight.

No one from Emerald had called yet about Ron’s script, so we dropped in to their Hyannis office. Made a stop at Four Seas on the way back, then Mahoney’s, then Mashpee Stop & Shop to pick up a prescription for me and fill his script. Last stop at Andy’s. Ron has his meds, thank goodness!

We got back home in time to meet a gentleman from Capewide who is going to give us an estimate on finishing the basement.

Right Eye

Recovery from yesterday’s surgery went better for my right than my left eye.

Had a checkup today in Plymouth: 20:30 vision, good enough for driving.

I am getting by with +2.00 reading glasses from the dollar store.

We stopped at Savers for clothes and the Blueberry Muffin. Did the transfer station run.

Picked up the truck yesterday. Check engine light went on, again, today.

Must be a big fire somewhere, air is filled with smoke. I’m inside for that reason, my eyes.

Contract with the Commission ended today. Good!

Ron Is In Love…

… with our new lawn mower.

I picked it up today from the Sears outlet in Wareham. I’d paid for a reconditioned mower, but they ran out of stock, so they gave us a new one instead.

Fortunately, it fit in the back seat of the rental. Also fortunately, it didn’t leak grease on the seat.

Much to his credit, and after working for the Rec department today, Ron not only assembled, oiled and gassed up the mower, he did the front and side lawns.

I worked on the database update for the Commission and finally got the FRED service to work.

Got a good report from the dermatologist today. Don’t need to go back unless there’s a problem.

Hummer, Maidentrip

Decided to take it easy today. Watched “Maidentrip”, which I’d rented on special for 99c from iTunes.

Very inspiring. Hope the kids get to see it.

Saw a little dark hummingbird, too. Seemed to like the sweet-smelling bushes on the left side of the “U”.

Lots To Write About

I gave notice Thursday.

Yesterday, Ron and I worked outside for most of the day, trying to prepare for the rain storm that never came.

He put up shelves in the shed and we started to organize the stuff that has been a jumble.

I put down most of the compost, some 5-10-5 and the mulch. Did some pruning. We both watered.

Today I doused the two little rhodies with insecticide. Unfortunately, I can’t use this type on the little maple tree because it’s in the veggie garden. So, I removed the moth caterpillars by hand.

Bought four heirloom tomatoes for $6 total at the Master Gardeners’ plant sale. I let them stay out in the shade for several hours and put them in the cold frame for the night.

Spent the morning with Candy, which was a great surprise. I delivered some packages that were left across the street for her yesterday.

We went to a terrible lecture on garden design at Highfield. Fortunately, I hadn’t paid for our tickets.

Afterwards, we went to the plant sale. Candy bought a sedum and stopped by here for a visit. She took me to lunch at Laurie’s; BLT sandwiches, great!

Got a call at 12:30 am this morning from Robert. He was in terrible pain, Bonnie and Peter were on their way back from Boston, and he needed to get to Cape Cod Hospital. Emme came with us.

We got there about 15 minutes ahead of B&P, long enough to get him checked in and resting. I brought Emme home and got back here around 2:30 am.

Had been so tired from working outside that I’d fallen asleep without brushing my teeth or getting myself cleaned up. Felt good to shower this morning!

We love our Graber shades.

Got my new bluetooth mouse today. It’s a dandy.

Changed Water Filters

Ron changed the filters yesterday and started the shelf project for the shed. His new saw and table are pretty trick.

I planted a little azalea and pruned back the dead-looking rose bushes. Also planted a box of day lilies.

We sponsored last night’s Cape Cod Build Guild. Really nice group, including Chris O’Brien, Matti Ulvila, Jack Daniel and Andres and Laura Remis.

Ron claims that hummingbirds are back. I think he’s seeing leaves, he believes that they are birds.
