Found my iPhone on the master bedroom bureau.
Rained this morning, snowing now. Still unclear how much we’ll get. Grateful to have power.
Confirmed appointment with Mr. Rooter for the 29th: sewer pipe and hot water heater!

Ron came back from Walmart, furious with me for changing his Part D medical plan. His out of pocket went way up, or so he claims, and he demanded that I fix it.
We were on the phone for well over an hour to get him re-enrolled in his old plan. We had a letter that invited him to rejoin the plan, but the customer service people were unprepared for this. At first they refused, then treated him like a new customer. I hope it was all worth it.
It’s 2:25 am. Lizzie woke me after a trump.
Our roofer agreed to add us to his plow list and dropped by to figure out where we should park the vehicles. Unfortunately, there’s a concrete block near the front door in exactly the wrong spot for parking the truck, but I did what I could.
Ron is out of Tramadol. I can’t believe it.
Was able to make an appointment for Mass Save energy audit in February.
Got confirmation that our plumbers can remove and discard the hot water heater.
I unpacked and hung up our coats and my closet clothing. What a job! So happy to see my winter coat. Did another laundry.
Started work on the master bedroom today, hanging my clothes. Found a few for donation.
Oiled the kitchen cabinet doors so they no longer squeak.
Did a small amount of shoveling on the deck. Let Lizzie out, but she was confused and got herself stuck.
Found the winter coats!
Ryan came by to give us a suggestion on where to park the cars to make it easier for him to plow. Looks like 6-7 inches is the latest prediction.
Made appointment for Mass Save for February.
While I fell asleep last evening from tiredness and a lot of wine, Ron prepped his Corolla for towing.
He also fired up the oil heater to take the chill out of the bedroom, took care of Lizzie, made coffee and talked with the tow driver.
The driver brought the car straight to Haddad. He’d made arrangements with the service manager. Guess he knows them well.
For better or worse, it’s mine.
It hit me last night that we can’t do all this ourselves, and I texted Justin to see if he’s still interested in hauling up here. He is.
The problem is too many oversized, heavy boxes.
Big snow predicted for end of this week.
Uploaded Schedule2023 to MRS for review.
Ron and I moved the big bookcase to the hearth and brought more boxes upstairs. Someone who sounds interesting, at least in writing, will be here tomorrow to take away the king bed.
Plumber (Ryan) was just here. He’s failing the hot water tank. We’ll likely have to buy one. I have an appointment with Mr. Rooter. Rental company called, we can have the tank removed. I asked them to please send a letter.
Talked with TR about moving expense consideration. Attorney doesn’t want to discuss with his clients.
I’m still unable to get the cable TV to work. The earliest in-home appointment is a week away.
The good news is that closing is happening tomorrow at 2.
I got our addresses changed with the RMV. Also requested a police report.
The adjuster stopped by this afternoon.
A magnificent customer service person at Eversource/Mass. Electric helped me with my new account. This particular ball got rolling after a frustrating conversation with Mass Save. I have an account number but need to wait for the first bill, due this week, to be recognized by Mass Save. It appears we are eligible for an energy audit, which is of course good news.
Started working on MRS2023. Schedule is not working yet.
Lizzie leaked in the living room. She has been eating, which is good.
Ron did a fine job getting the monster bed disassembled. Someone is coming to pick it up on Thursday.
Got Ron’s bank account squared away.
After much aggravation with Cigna’s account services, I dumped their stupid dental/vision policy that I didn’t need anyway. Didn’t remember or didn’t realize that Via Benefits doesn’t administer dental and vision plans for Cal, so would have duplicated coverage.
Snow last night.
Ron’s car arrived here from Charlton this evening.
We had plenty of time to clear the driveway and get our other vehicles in position.
Ron worked the snowblower. Fortunately, the stuff was light and easy to shovel.
Gave up on locating the envelope of stamps here. Made it to the post office on Spring Street to mail Barbara’s check, finally. Enjoyed meeting the clerk!
Ron’s buffalo plate arrived today.
Went to Stop & Shop.
Cancelled homeowners policy on Dixon.
More unpacking.
Peter’s birthday.
Forgot to cancel the homeowners policy on Dixon, wrote to GEICO.
Lizzie was up and crying a couple of times last night/this morning. Extricated her once.
When I got up around 4:30, found Ron asleep on the couch after extricating her a second time. Poor guy!
Betsy sent a poetic, cheerful email about not expecting an older home to be without flaws.
Had meself set up to take a shower in the downstairs bath, only to find the stall was full of water.
Water was dripping into the basement.
I called a plumber and he diagnosed a blockage in the sewer drain to the street. The one that was supposed to have been cleared 5 days ago.
Called the original plumbers, and am waiting for them to come back.
Had started a wash; turned it off. Can’t use the water at all.
Ron went to Walmart and Stop & Shop. He wants to go to Home Depot in Bennington as well for a cordless drill battery so he can finish taking apart the monster bed.
Later: plumbers came and went. Need a new sewer pipe. The charge for emergency services wipes out my Chase overpayment/negative balance. Just as well.
Ron returned with most of what was on the shopping list and a few more things, like too many bags of Taylor Farms salads and multiple containers of peanuts.
