It’s the first of October, and definitely time to think about Halloween and Thanksgiving.
This past weekend, Emme, James and I went to the Harvest Fest at the Fairgrounds. It’s a mellow, homely, wholesome event, and I look forward to it every year.
We met my friend Carolyn at the gate, and visited with her for a while before we went our separate ways. She bought the kids ice cream and popcorn, which they supplemented with candy apples and other treats.
James got to climb on a big inflatable slide at least 100 times. Both of the kids tried out a tiny tractor. They did a couple of pony rides, fed the sheep and made it through a maze. We cruised through the exhibit halls, got souvenirs, walked along the nature path and finished up with a visit to the vegetable gardens.
Having planned to stay only an hour, we were there for almost two, and a good time certainly was enjoyed by all.
