Really Smart, or Really Stupid

Something told me yesterday to transfer the bulk of my retirement accounts to a Money Market Fund, and so I did.
As of this hour, the Dow is down 78 points.

I don’t believe that the economy is roaring along. A work/buddy of mine recently advertised an opening on his staff and got 70 resumes. He winnowed the number of candidates down to about 5 – but that’s still 5 people for only one job.
World and national events are making me very nervous – the evacuation of Gaza, the record prices of oil, all this talk about a housing bubble, the fourth anniversary of 9/11. Not to mention the bizarre values of the 35 million Evangelical so-called Christians and what they have voted into the White House and Congress.
I don’t have a lot of retirement assets, probably about 1/2 of what the pundits advise is appropriate for someone my age. But, as I am reminded when I talk with my similarly under-capitalized middle-aged women friends, it’s better than nothing and, thus, important to mind.
