A friend of mine was unlucky enough to inherit a Gateway PC at her office.
The Gateway was purchased by the person my friend replaced.
She phoned the local Gateway store last week to see if they would install additional memory. They quoted her prices and told her to bring it in, that it would be serviced on a “first come, first served” basis.
Today she hauled the machine to the Hyannis store and was greeted by a bunch of stoney-faced employees. No one volunteered to carry the PC or asked if they could be of service.
When she asked about the installation, she got a “Lady, we don’t do that no more” type of answer. Evidently Gateway corporate showed up earlier today to shut down their repair shop.
Their helpful advice? She’d have to bring it to Burlington, about a 2 1/2 hour drive.
No one offered to help her carry the Gateway back to her car, either.
Like my son says, BUY A MAC.
