A Degree at a Time

We are in the midst of a heat wave, but I stupidly held off on re-installing the one working air conditioner until late yesterday.
As a result, it was 84 degrees in the house around 6:30 last night.
It’s now 74, thanks to the excellent little Whirlpool unit that’s been cranking all night.

I did a lot of pruning and dead-heading in the front garden yesterday and chopped the Skimmia that’s been failing.
The Montauks that I trimmed back in late May are slightly fuller than the others. I might cut them all back earlier next Spring.
I added 7 new plants to the garden behind the fence, starting a second layer in spots, and planted an Astilbe in the shade garden. Got some good bargains at Falmouth Greenhouse; hope they “take”.
It looks like Hurricane Earl will be paying a visit late Friday/early Saturday. I loaded up on water yesterday.
Brought Emme to have her nails done, picked up Peter’s snow blower and brought back the ramps. Got another window fan for James’ room; he stayed over last night, will be here today while P&B go to Boston for an appointment with her MD.
