Raked, mowed, overseeded and put down starter fertilizer in the back yard at Edgewater. Spread the other peat moss brick on the new garden, which someone used to deposit scat.
Ron continues to work on the porch and made great progress today on the gate.

Ron mowed the back yard yesterday; it looks magnificent.
I don’t care about when the White House called the attack on our consulate a “terrorist act”.
Similarly, I don’t really care about Mitt and Ann Romney’s taxes or for that matter, Obama’s birth certificate or church membership.
Oil and gas drilling on federal land and the price of gas are of some concern but not the most important issues, especially since the latter is driven primarily by world markets.
Tax rates for people making $250,000 is a non-issue. I do wonder, though, why we have billionaires who have not actually produced a product, found a cure for a disease or provided some valuable public service.
Why hasn’t the Obama administration gone after the Wall Street criminals who caused the crash of 2008? For that matter, where’s the money?
I think abortion needs to be safe and legal and don’t believe that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, regardless of who’s elected.
I care about a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. I think campaigns should be financed from public funds only and that there should be term limits.
I think Affordable Care without single payer is missing the point.
I think Medicare should negotiate with the pharms for group discounts.
I think Congresspeople should have the same health care and retirement plans as the average working American.

I overseeded the front and side again. Probably the last time this season, since I really want to put down late fall fertilizer but have to wait a week or so. Put compost on the wind flowers. Moved one, may replant the other as well. My hands are so rough, we could use them to sand the porch!
Ron ordered hearing aids; he was so astonished at the improvement they make in his hearing, he can’t believe he waited so long to get them.
He did some more work at Edgewater. We bought them a waffle iron and gluten-free mix to make up for the one I borrowed years ago. We hear there is “clamoring” over there to break it in.
I put out some Halloween decorations, planted the wind flowers, and mowed the front lawn.
Ron and I went to Town Meeting, which lasted only an hour. The two articles we supported both passed.
I finished the new garden at Edgewater. Cleaned up the sod, added rocks and watered. I might spread more peat moss.
Ron worked on the deck. He’s doing a great job.
Yesterday morning, Ron tended to the lawn while I held a Question 4 sign in Davisville and visited some O-F friends at their green energy open house. They put a wind turbine in their backyard, and it’s been very effective for them.
After lunch (pork chops), Ron continued work on the porch at Edgewater. I did the transfer station run and picked up some perennials and peat moss at Scenic Roots for the extended grass garden. Also purchased two Wind Flowers for us. Fell in love with this flower two years ago and am thrilled to have found two beautiful plants at Scenic Roots’ two-for-one sale.
We stopped around 5:15 to get ready for the O-F first anniversary potluck/celebration. I took a bunch of photos for the website. The great news is that someone from the group volunteered to take over.
Had some light rain today, enough so we didn’t have to water the new grass.
For the last two days, Ron and I have been working at Edgewater. We bought some new power tools that are helping Ron remove the paint from the railings.
This project has been dragging on for ages, but we’re encouraged that this is the best approach. It’s very time-consuming, unfortunately.
I finally transplanted four of the grasses. Dug up a lot of weeds in the process. Mowed the front lawn yesterday, probably for the last time, since Peter has been cleared to do the work himself.
We got to Highfield so we could see Carolyn’s stone.
Went a little crazy in this place last week. Picked up a pound of coffee, quiche and some cupcakes. All got the “thumbs up” from Ron.
