It’s worth blogging about because, well, it seems so rare.
Month: December 2005
Raynham?
The National Low Income Housing Coalition’s annual report lists the 10 metro areas in the US that require the highest wages to afford a two-bedroom home.
Boat Drinks
This weather really is enough to make you want to shoot 6 holes in your freezer, and it’s only mid-December.
Happy Birthday
Today is Peter’s birthday, he can tell you himself which one.
Last night, he, Bonnie and the kids came over for a birthday dinner, including cuplit and the annual multi-layer, coronary- and coma-inducing chocolate cake with chocolate whipped cream filling.
If birthdays are milestones, then Peter deserves an award for making it through the last challenging 12 months. He’s blogged about a lot of it and some he has not, so trust me when I say that it’s been a rough patch for him, Bonnie and the kids.
Things are starting to improve, thanks to a lot of hard work on his and Bonnie’s part, and I hope this next year will bring a slew of compensatory rewards.
So, Happy Birthday, Peter! Enjoy this one, you have really earned the right to do so!
Prattle On
As the oldest of the Boomers* – including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, George Bush, and yours truly – reach 60 next year, expect an escalation of media prattle about the dire things that will happen to the country when “we” start collecting Social Security benefits.
Above all, expect us to be demonized as greedy, self-indulgent, hypocritical and above all, unimaginably rich ingrates who HAVE SOME NERVE feeding at the federal trough.
In fact, the onslaught has already started.
WEP World
I spent the last two days updating and reconfiguring my wireless network, and at least for the moment, everything seems to be working, save one item which I haven’t tried yet: changing the interface mode from 802.11b to 802.11g.
3 AM
Early start, brought Peter to the 4:20 airport bus.
$3
That’s what it cost for outside decorations at #20 and #11 this year.
An Ill Wind
It’s 38 degrees outside and, as they say, feels a lot colder because of the wind from the normally balmy Southwest.
Enough to make you want to avoid doing anything outside, even though it’s otherwise a nice day, sunny with clear skies.
Of Few Words
My 10 year old grandson Bob has recently started sending emails, and it’s disconcerting, because he writes EXACTLY like his soon to be 36 year old father.
In fact, it’s difficult to tell them apart.
