“Death by Chocolate” Jazz

I asked Ron if we could leave the Falmouth Democrat Town Committee meeting before it even started.

I was horrified to find that most of the O-F Steering Committee are members.

I was so aggravated by the close-minded attitude, rampant disinformation and self-centered whining that I feared getting into a fist fight – on local television.

Ron was gracious enough to bring us home so that I could go to the annual “Death by Chocolate” jazz concert at Barnstable High School.  It’s an elegant event with a red and black theme, set up like a jazz club with cafe tables and plates of exquisite desserts.  There are some accomplished musicians there: a vocal jazz ensemble, the string orchestra, the jazz lab, and the jazz combo.  I especially enjoyed the jazz ensemble.  Even won a gift certificate to Pain d’Avignon!

Ron stayed home and watched a Japanese martial arts film.

Siding Done, Scanner Software Works

005
We got a surprise call this morning from our contractors, who dug their way past yesterday’s snow storm to finish our window/siding installation job.

I am thrilled.

We asked Mike to help us refinance, and that provided a reason to get my scanner software up and running – finally. It’s been a huge help over the last couple of days.

Ron and I shoveled ourselves out. Not a lot of snow, but heavy.

Wepecket/Wamsutta Club

Yesterday: sat in (briefly) on the first meeting of the Cape Cod chapter of Campaign for Liberty. Redeemed coupons at Job Lot and a gift certificate at Aubuchon.

Ron and I attended another terrific concert at the Wamsutta Club. Looking forward to the New Bedford symphony next Saturday.

So Very Smug

“Would fill a stadium”.  How smug.  How very knowing.  This person, a social worker, had no idea of the complexity of the situation he thought he was describing.

I asked Ron yesterday why Peter and I didn’t go to California with him.  He said he didn’t know.  We’re even: I don’t know, either, except that I’ve always believed that I couldn’t rely on other people, that I had to take care of myself.

Last night’s forum on employment matters was very impressive.  Some good contributions and respectful, knowledgeable feedback from Representative Vieira.

Our handout went over well.  Ron got to speak, I did, too, as one of the few, perhaps the only, Libertarian/Tea Party sympathizer in the room.

I told them I was glad for the experience of being a “contingent worker”, that it gave me a point of view that employees don’t have.

Forum Tonight

Ron and I both spoke, very well attended.  Our tribe did well and our handout was favorably received.

I cooked.  Defrosted the Christmas ham, made soup, a grain and vegetable salad, a chocolate cake.  Easy cook, easy cleanup.

Got a cute outfit for the walking doll.  Too big, I misread the tag, thought a “9” was a “3”.  Wonder how close I am to cataract surgery.

Child’s

I woke up at 3 am, back to sleep around 6.

Ron and I paid a visit to the Waquoit end of the Child’s River conservation area for which we are land stewards.   Lunch afterwards at Moonakis; we slid in at the last minute and they were nice enough to let us sit and eat.
