Lemons to Lemonade

We attended the wake in Milton of a family friend who passed away at age 101, then had lunch at Strawberry Fair, a walk on the Nantasket strand, a drive along Jerusalem Road in Cohasset, ice cream at FarFar’s and a visit to Cretinon’s farm stand in Duxbury.  Then we voted in Mashpee.

Americana

We had a nice afternoon yesterday in Marstons Mills, enjoying their Barnstable 375th birthday event, which included music by Three Cats and a Dog, a book sale and a roast chicken dinner.

We were given a nice wooden bowl and bought some Cape-themed books for Jen’s children, mailed today.

Brought the truck in for body work today to fix the front bumper, part of which had rusted away and part of which I crunched into the front fence.

Entertaining Sunday

Jen and Peter and families were here for a low-key get-together yesterday.

Oranges, coffee and TV tables (all Ron’s ideas) were a big hit. We also served watermelon, munchies, hummus and vegetables, and a dozen Sippewissett oysters.

We had enough chairs for everyone and the deck looked festive with our two tables and some bright flowers.

A neighbor cat received attention from Robert and Jen’s 3. The little guys also enjoyed watching the spinning sprinkler.

Ron did his usual great job of clean-up before we hunkered down for the last episodes of “Prime Suspect”.

Today we’ve done laundry and changed the sheets, and I’m having a hard time getting motivated to do much else.

Working Saturday

I was a little disappointed with the Circle last night, too many people, and was surprised to discover today that the local winery is no more. Coonamessett Farm has upscaled, beautiful, but gone tourist. We bought oysters and beef.

I worked on a page for ducati128 and pruned and dug out a big pile of violets and weeds from the vegetable garden.

We’ve been watering since this morning. The little garden in the front was a mess but it’s been watered and cleaned up so it’s happier now.

Verdict is still out on the flower boxes.

Enjoyed resting in the hammock.

Ron spotted the orioles yesterday. The hummers are out today.

Tomorrow will be a busy one.

Good Eating

On Wednesday, we flauta’d ourselves to heaven at the new burrito shop.

Yesterday, I made tabouleh and turkey burgers. Today, I cooked up black beans, rice, onions and pepper for burritos.

Also ordered a dozen oysters from Coonamessett Farm.

91°

One of the hottest days we’ve had this summer. Glad we’ve been watering.

Ron is at John’s Pond today.

I went to Wareham to get gas, pick up an umbrella stand at Lowe’s, and drop off donations to the Salvation Army. Otherwise, have been working on a page for Jim.
