Snowing Again
It’s quarter to five on Sunday, and it just started snowing. Not supposed to be a big accumulation this time.
Glad we got the transfer station run done earlier today.
Schadenfreude
Wareham in the Rain
We did a three-fer: Walmart; the Country Store; Lowe’s.
UMass Extension Regional Notes: March 14, 2015
IKEA
Yesterday, after careful and occasionally spirited consideration, we brought IVAR home for the second bedroom.
Even with remarkably light traffic for a Friday afternoon, driving to Stoughton and back was a time-consuming nuisance, but I think it was worth it. IVAR has everything we wanted in a shelf unit: perfect size, flexibility, the right material (pine). It’ll be a much easier install than using raw wood.
We brought home some groceries from the Swedish store, too, including gooseberry and lingonberry jams and cinnamon rolls.
Birthday
After his dental appointment, Ron and I had brunch at the Moonakis.
I drove James to his dental appointment in Sandwich and made a run to Skaket Beach in Orleans to see the “once-in-a-lifetime” view. Snapped a couple of quick pix. Got back just in time to pick him up.
Ron treated again to supper at Bobby Byrnes in Mashpee.
Good day all around.
Another Day, Another Car Adventure
Was curious: do people who “know” music think modern composers compare favorably to the big 3? Sampled Britten, Maw, Hindemith, Boulez, Messiaen, Stravinsky. Listening with pleasure to Top Tracks for Leoš Janáček
We spent yesterday afternoon at Edgewater: snow removal day 5. Ron de-iced more gutters. I did some shoveling on the deck and in the front, including unburying the laurel on the right side, and broke up the table on the deck.
Bought a 44 pound bag of ice melt for Edgewater. Ron bought YakTrax for us.
Peter had a minor car accident the night before last. Yesterday, after the Senior Center, Ron picked him up from Access and dropped him off at Cape Cod Coffee.
I had some good-natured fun with Peter on Twitter after he blasted us for blocking his car yesterday.
Purchased another software utility this morning to clean up the registry.
Figured out a little more about GitHub yesterday, uploaded my schedule project.
Ron picked up a pile of wine bottle boxes from Kappy’s for our second bedroom project. I loaded up four of them today with office supplies. At this point, the black bookcase and contents are all downstairs. That leaves only the white credenza for the majority of my “stuff”; except for one or two shelves of books, the rest is Ron’s.
The orange cat was outside today at the foot of the now-cleared bulkhead.
Cormier’s had a cancellation, so Ron dropped off his van this morning. They found and fixed the problem/s within a few hours. Relief that it wasn’t worse news.
Bright, Warm
It feels like early Spring today. I dug out the bulkhead while Ron was working at Edgewater. Felt great to sit in the sun.
Robert helped and Ron enjoyed his company. Ron had a productive day: Senior Center, hardware store, CVS, bank. He cleared the whole roof at Edgewater!
Productive Weekend
We met with our tax preparer yesterday. As always, we had a good conversation and received good advice.
Today, we managed to get through everything we wanted to do, including transfer station run and more snow removal at Edgewater. Ron is pleased with our progress. He also brought over a piece of melamine for Peter’s new standing desk, and it fit well.
I made a vegetable/scallop casserole and roasted asparagus for lunch. Too bland for Ron, but perfect for me. Tomatoes, summer squash, onions, garlic, rice, cheese.
