Checks

We received refund checks for Edgewater overpayments to the mortgage and insurance companies.

The first remote deposit didn’t work, so I made a couple of trips to the bank and did walks around both sections of Mashpee Commons.

As is to be expected, very few people were wearing masks.

Did more yardwork yesterday, especially in the front. Beds are looking much better.

Ordered cowslip seeds from a company on Etsy. Love primrose, hope these really are perennials. We’ll find out next year and the year after.

We did a transfer station run and got rid of trash, but recycling was closed.

Rain, Wind

Yesterday was foul so we stayed inside.

Did some exercises with small hand weights and chair yoga. Walked in place during BBCNews America. Heated up sweet red pepper/gouda soup with turnip for lunch. Salad-plus for supper.

River Bend, Chocolate Pudding

I pried Ron out of the house for a walk at the River Bend conservation area. Made chocolate pudding for his “reward”.

Also made stir fry and quinoa for lunch.

Cut down another big grass and did some more raking. Tomorrow is not going to be a good day to work outside. I have a little left in the front but otherwise the yard is in pretty good shape.

Planted the pansies from yesterday’s trip to Soares in the flower boxes. Did two shopping trips yesterday and drove Robert home from work.

Uh Oh

Yesterday while attempting to flip the light switch behind the microwave, I broke one of the pretty cordial glasses.

Stopped in to Eastman’s for a very overpriced tube of Loctite for glass. They aren’t allowing customers in the store but are open. This was one item that was in stock, fortunately.

I finished gluing the pieces this morning. Hope they hold.

I did a walk yesterday in the cold and damp up and down part of Main Street in Falmouth, including the park at Siders Pond and the labyrinth at Saint Barnabus.

Other walkers shot looks that could kill, and I probably did the same to them. So much for loving kindness in the middle of a crisis on Cape Cod: it’s all about me.

Ron has done a great job of setting up the hoses. Both 100 footers are working, front and back. He filled the bird bath yesterday and has been keeping the feeders loaded up.

I did more raking and weeding yesterday, and Ron loaded up the wheelbarrow twice so I could spread compost. Made good progress.

I was beat last night, much better this morning. Been fighting what feels like a cold for days, but not running a fever.

Another Good Walk

I dropped off leaves at the transfer station, early enough so that there wasn’t a line, and parked at Roche, figuring to walk to the Wampanoag Government Center.

I didn’t quite make it, but managed over 7,000 steps in about an hour and a half. Years ago, someone posted whimsical items on telephone poles and although I’ve driven on that road many times, I’ve not appreciated them until today.

I was fortunate enough to miss the rain – it poured later on – and to find an exquisite walking trail to the Mashpee River.

Ron did two loads of laundry. No cooking for me today, but we had plenty of leftovers.

Walks

Walked 3 1/2 miles today, some in Cotuit and the rest in Mashpee.

Picked up and dropped off a push broom for Peter.

Cleaned up the rest of the flower, veg and herb garden beds here.

Watched a nice webcast of Yaniv Dinur, the Music Director of the New Bedford Symphony.

Yard Work

Peter and I did the transfer station run yesterday. I helped with leaf removal, but Peter did most of it, managing to clean the whole front and a good part of the back with Joe’s leaf blower. He even cleared the area under the holly!

I’ve been working on our beds. The veg beds are still in process.

Ron has been working on and with the chipper and made progress yesterday.

Guaifenesin arrived yesterday. One of Ron’s friends recommended it if we become symptomatic. I’m all for lungs and breathing, thank you.

Yesterday I did a shop and picked up Ron’s prescription at Stop & Shop.

Living in an area with a lot of entitled old men who think they can crowd the rest of us, I like this new social distancing: if they get too close, they could die: Ha Ha Ha.

Walked Over Three Miles

Sunny and pleasant today after a shower this morning.

Goal was 4900 steps. With Ron’s encouragement and company, ended up at over 6,200. We went around the neighborhood. I’m where I should be at 19 days (5,800). I’d lost count last weekend when my phone ran out of charge.

Ron set up the hoses. Seems to be a problem with the spigot in the back, but the front is okay.

I drove Peter to Cormier’s to pick up his car. He says it’s running much better now.

Did more raking in the front: side garden, beds in front of the house. Put the tonneau cover back on.

Branch Recycling

Picked Peter up from Cormier’s. We loaded the prunings but it was too much for the transfer station, so we did three trips to All Cape Recycling. Peter and I made a good team so it wasn’t that hard, and the people who run the place are easy to get along with.

The rest of the day is pretty much a blur. It started raining shortly after we finished, so I did the rest of my walking in front of the TV.

Typical Sunday

Raked on the house side of the fence and hauled it to the transfer station. Stopped for frozen fruit and marked-down cookies at Roche and scones at Washashore.

Ron did laundry. We changed the sheets.

I tossed the two 100 foot hoses out the attic window and straightened them out in back.
