$16 Investment, $64 Result

Yesterday, after trying without success to fit a programmatic square peg into a round hole, I visited one of our local nurseries for stock to complete a planter on the deck.
The season is very late this year, and even though Memorial Day weekend is not too far off, the weather has been lousy, not at all typical of Spring. Between these two, it’s been hard to find healthy-looking plants: the dampness and cold have resulted in spindly stocks and yellowed or even decayed leaves.

The nursery did have a fine-looking planter on display, and it was $64. I liked the arrangement, and eventually picked out $16 worth of perennials which, with a substitution or two, came close to the effect.
So, I now have a $64 flower box for 1/4 of the price.
As seems to be the pattern recently, the sun did come out late in the afternoon, and thus energeized, I decided around 5:30 to vacuum my car, mostly because even my tolerant grandchildren have started to complain about how nasty the interior had become.
This turned into a 2-hour job, both external and internal washing and vacuuming which, truth be told, were way, way, WAY overdue.
So, yesterday was a dud for coding, but at least I got something accomplished.
