Why It’s Bad to Ask for Help (and Other Fables)

One of my friends raised heck with me last week for not asking for help from friends, especially with house-related tasks, like the installation of the screen door, for instance.

Well, events of yesterday point out some of the reasons why.
If you hire a contractor, and there’s a schedule screw-up, usually people don’t get bent out of shape, they just apologize, and go forward.
It’s different if you ask for help from a friend. If things get off track, then you have multiple people annoyed with you.
Add family to that, and it’s a double-bogey.
I THOUGHT a friend of a friend was going to stop by #11 to do some electrical work. I THOUGHT this was all happening in the afternoon. Turns out, I was wrong on the timing.
Oh, well, apologies to all.
Be that as it may, I had a great day, most of which I spent in Providence. Seems I always have a good time in that city, even though it’s a tough one to navigate unless you know it pretty well.
