Gardener’s Diary

Some gardener.
I’ve been trying to figure out why a slew of “morning glories” have been flourishing wildly in one flower box and not the other.
It’s because they are NASTURTIUMS, duuuuhhh.

It goes to show how preoccupied I’ve been lately, mistaking the platter-like, variegated leaves of nasturtiums for the heart-shaped cotyledons of morning glories.
Recognizing the beloved nasturtiums does make me VERY happy. It reminds me of the central California coast, Carmel in particular, where they grow in some spots like kudzu.
Parts of the gardens are out of control, presumably those species that like rainy, overcast weather.
Someone said we’ve had six inches more rain than Seattle this year. This is much to my liking. Maybe it’ll drive away the rich second home owners with the Florida license plates who descend on this place like a curse.
