Grands

This week, I’ve had a triple dose of the grandkids, which has been great, but, boy, am I feeling my age tonight.
Then again, the recent weather hasn’t helped (more on that below).

The 8 year old, Emmeline, stayed over on Friday. Saturday morning, we went on a nature “adventure” to Washburn Island, part of the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Sunday night, Bob, who is almost 10, had his turn. This followed an already-busy day, including loading the truck for 2 transfer station runs, a trip to Home Depot for lumber, and a drive to Boston and back.
This morning, after finishing off a project, I took Bob to McDonald’s, a bookstore, Otis AFB, and then we had a swim in a neighbor’s pool.
Tonight, James is here. He also had a turn in the pool, and after his bath, went tearing around on his bike in front of the house. We ate our supper in the back of the truck.
I’ve been told to take the truck off asphalt for at least 10 miles a month and engage the 4-wheel drive to keep the mechanism in tune, so James and I found a very cool dirt road, and we did a little exploring. I plan to go back, it was fantastic, and the truck handled beautifully, even in sand.
It’s about 86 degrees (“feels like 94”) right now. I haven’t had the heart (yet) to give up a window to install my old air conditioner. We’re supposed to get a break tomorrow. Can’t wait.
