Feeding Frenzy

No, this is not about the political and media hysteria about the late Terri Schiavo, rest her soul.
It’s about the amazing appetites of the little boys I know.

Last weekend, Bob had his “overnight”. This is a child who a year ago was living on air.
This time, he ate 4 servings of oatmeal, bacon, and two bowls of cold cereal for breakfast. Then for lunch, he polished off a serving and a half of ravioli. Somewhere in the middle of all this, he made himself a milkshake with soy milk, oranges and orange juice. There were snacks as well.
Last night, I kept the boys next door, ages 5 and 11, company while their folks went to a meeting.
After eating supper, they each asked for sandwiches – PB&J and PB&Fluff – and polished them off. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some cereal before bedtime.
I don’t remember this with Peter and his friends when they were pre-adolescent, but they must have been the same, surely.
This is probably a really stupid post, but maybe because this was such a dismal week on the national news front, there is just something cheerful and “normal” about healthy, growing kids that seemed worth writing about.
