Executive Summary:
Yahoo: good
Google: bad
I’ve read a few of the “controversial” excerpts from the blog of Mark Jen, the person who left Microsoft to take a job at Google and was fired after less than a month of employment – and as a former HR person, I have NO idea what got his boss’s knickers in a twist.
Example (direct quote):
…which leads me to one of google’s most valuable competitive advantages: the ability to get features out the door extremely quickly. this is by far one of the most striking contrasts between google and microsoft.
Wow, that’s harsh. Insubordinate. Boyoboy, I’d sure fire anyone who badmouthed MY company in that way.
Compare and contrast to Jeremy Zawodny and his civilized chats about the blogosphere with his boss at Yahoo.
And I was stupid enough to think that Google were a bunch of good guys. How could I be SO DUMB?! After all, didn’t its founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, go to India on a “hiring spree” last October?
They’d better watch themselves if they blog in Bangalore.
Wonder if Page and Brin or their uptight middle managers know Hindi?
