Hey, a few hundred million here, a few voters there: seems like the Republican party and the Bush administration have the same disdain for basic accounting principles as some of their fat-cat CEO buddies.
We’ve been reading about charges of voter registration fraud by Republican election officials in Florida, Nevada, Ohio and Colorado.
Now, an audit conducted by KMPG for the UN’s International Advisory and Monitoring Board has found that “hundreds of millions” of dollars in Iraqi project funds are unaccounted for.
KPMG’s findings include a $2.6 million expenditure for unknown services, and a mysterious transfer of $1.4 billion to a Kurdish bank.
The shenanigans and dirty tricks of the Bush Administration thieves make this, the most powerful country on earth, look third-rate and third world.
Meanwhile, will John Kerry manage to get through the rest of the campaign without putting his foot into it yet one more time? First, there was the much-pounced-upon “global test” for going to war, followed by his crass, egregious reference to Mary Cheney in the final debate. In between was the incredibly stupid quote in, of all places, the NY Times, about his wish that terrorism would become merely a “nuisance”.
One wonders if the man has a fear of actually winning the election, for heaven’s sake.
