Gardener’s Diary – GRASS

The back yard has grass. Infant grass, and it’s spotty, but it is definitely there, right on schedule and as promised.
I can’t believe it.

I’ve been watering for the last week, at least twice a day, and it hasn’t been fun.
A 100 foot garden hose holds about 8 gallons of water and weighs about 75 pounds, including the weight of the hose.
So, for the last week, I’ve been working with 35-40 pounds and 75 pounds of hose and water for 15-20 minutes at a time, twice daily.
No wonder I’ve been so tired at end of day.
Anyway, this morning (or did it start last night), we had a real downpour. Right now, the sky is overcast. Should be a good weekend for growing grass; as they say, September is the best month.
