The little hydrangea is almost at peak, a deep purple.
\nI’m waiting for the dahlias. If it weren’t for the coreopsis, the front garden would be almost completely green. Guess I could use more mid-late Summer color.
\nOn the porch, though, the first set of zinnias are pretty and cheerful, bright pinks and oranges, the nasturtiums have recovered from several days of heavy rain, the pansies are still hanging on, and the petunias have started, pretty shades of deep purple and pink.
\nIf it weren’t so humid, the porch would be a nice place to sit. As it is, I’m staying inside a lot of the time, keeping the shades down and the blinds closed to keep the house from heating up too much. Even so, it was 80 degrees in here the other day.
\nOne of my neighbors put in my old A\/C, which still works pretty well, and it’s been a blessing, especially at night.
\nLast week at #11, I replanted the window boxes with Million Bells and petunias and transplanted last year’s mums to the rock garden.
\nI have a bucket of vinca from last year that had rooted in front of the house, the plan being to add it in the window boxes, either across the street or at #11.
\nAll in all, pretty standard stuff for mid-July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
It’s been humid, not the best conditions for working outside.
