Fortunately, I hadn&#8217;t purchased it, just borrowed it from a friend.<br \/>\nHaving been interested in the Gnostic Gospels for a long while, I found the book tedious and pedestrian.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nWhen I first encountered the reality of alternative gospels, the experience was illuminating, powerful and uplifting.  I&#8217;m grateful that my introduction was through a beautifully written scholarly work by Professor Elaine Pagels and not a boring novel with an anti-climactic ending.<br \/>\nMany people have been offended by &#8220;The DaVinciCode&#8221;, and evidently hordes more have been infuriated by the film.<br \/>\nWhat a great pity that a magnificent subject has been ruined for so many people due to bad writing and a deliberate, inflammatory distortion of historical fact.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I read &#8220;The DaVinci Code&#8221; a while back.
