{"id":395,"date":"2005-07-31T07:51:23","date_gmt":"2005-07-31T12:51:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=395"},"modified":"2005-07-31T07:51:23","modified_gmt":"2005-07-31T12:51:23","slug":"mashpee-night-at-the-pops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=395","title":{"rendered":"Mashpee Night at the Pops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As mentioned in a prior entry, this is THE big summer event for this town, and over 10,000 people turned out for it last night.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra is a darned good band, and they are a pleasure to hear even when their selections aren&#8217;t necessarily to one&#8217;s taste.<br \/>\nThey seem to have an awful lot of trouble in the soloist department, though; enough said.<br \/>\nAs in other years, even though I arrived late, I managed to get a good parking place and a terrific seat in the free section.  I could hear the concert very well, and it turned out that it was also the ideal spot to watch the fireworks.<br \/>\nLast year&#8217;s fireworks display was a little frightening &#8211; I was standing close to an area where the spent shells were landing; one barely missed my feet.<br \/>\nThis year, there was no wind, and the fire marshall was happier, beaming about what a great show it was.
