{"id":393,"date":"2005-07-30T08:18:51","date_gmt":"2005-07-30T13:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=393"},"modified":"2005-07-30T08:18:51","modified_gmt":"2005-07-30T13:18:51","slug":"gardeners-diary-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=393","title":{"rendered":"Gardener&#8217;s Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the last day of the Fair, and everyone in the Youth Building was ready for it to be over a long time ago.<br \/>\nFortunately, we&#8217;ve had moderate weather for the latter part of the week, and the people and gardens are the better for it.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe flower boxes on the porch look pretty good, the thymes are blooming and to my surprise, the browned leaves on the violet recovered after a good watering.<br \/>\nI haven&#8217;t planted anything new for a while, but I&#8217;ve been kicking myself for not doing something easy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/capecoder\/29245979\/\" target=\"_blank\">in front of the fence<\/a>, like daisies and daylilies.  It wouldn&#8217;t have been especially pretty now, though, since both have gone by.<br \/>\nAll in all, a boring week, not much to report except that (thanks to a neighbor and her dumpster) I finally cleaned up the old lumber from the back yard, which finally looks respectable enough for company, a garden, a shed, an above-ground pool.  If I had the incentive to do any of it, which I don&#8217;t.<br \/>\nIn addition to it being the last day of the Fair, it&#8217;s also the opening of the Woods Hole Film Festival and tonight, this town&#8217;s big Summer event happens, Mashpee Night at the Pops.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the last day of the Fair, and everyone in the Youth Building was ready for it to be over a long time ago.
