{"id":313,"date":"2005-03-31T11:10:07","date_gmt":"2005-03-31T16:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=313"},"modified":"2005-03-31T11:10:07","modified_gmt":"2005-03-31T16:10:07","slug":"bob-and-the-dodo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=313","title":{"rendered":"Bob and the Dodo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My oldest grandchild, Bob, who will be 10 this July, has taken an interest in the Dodo Bird.<br \/>\nHe&#8217;s done some research and shared a few facts during his last overnight &#8211; like, the Dodo Bird was large (&#8220;the size of James and Max put together&#8221;) and was pretty good eating.<br \/>\nHe also informed me that the Dodo lived on two islands East of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean: Reunion and Mauritius.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nHe is so taken with the Dodo that he made an unusual request:  for his birthday, he asked me to buy him flags from Reunion and Mauritius.<br \/>\nWe discovered that Reunion has a very cool &#8220;unofficial&#8221; flag, but because it&#8217;s a &#8220;department&#8221; of France, you can&#8217;t buy an actual Reunion flag.<br \/>\nMauritius, however, does have a nice flag of their own.  So, I ordered it for Bob.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s 3 feet by 5 feet, and I have no idea where he&#8217;s going to put it &#8211; maybe suspended from the ceiling in his room &#8211; and maybe some day it will go with him to college.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My oldest grandchild, Bob, who will be 10 this July, has taken an interest in the Dodo Bird.
