{"id":308,"date":"2005-03-28T10:41:36","date_gmt":"2005-03-28T15:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=308"},"modified":"2005-03-28T10:41:36","modified_gmt":"2005-03-28T15:41:36","slug":"just-hang-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=308","title":{"rendered":"Just Hang Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Received a recorded phone message this morning from the Dove Foundation, which rates TV shows, movies and video games for children.<br \/>\nSince I&#8217;m on a &#8220;Do Not Call&#8221; list*, I declined to listen to the rest of the phonecall, and filed a complaint with the <a href=\"http:\/\/svartifoss2.fcc.gov\/cib\/fcc475.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">FCC<\/a>.<br \/>\nAnd having researched the &#8220;Dovies&#8221; thereafter, I&#8217;m glad I did.<br \/>\nTheir website includes, for example, the following from a review of &#8220;Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban&#8221;:<br \/>\n<i>Although it is a highly entertaining and well-made film, Dove cannot award it the Dove Seal because of the emphasis on divination, incantations and dark themes.<\/i><br \/>\nAy-yup.<br \/>\nPS:  The Western Michigan Better Business Bureau doesn&#8217;t like them either:  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grandrapids.bbb.org\/commonreport.html?bureau=grandrapids&code=&compid=0016000089&national=Y\" target=\"_blank\">This organization does not meet the &#8230; BBB Standard(s) for Local Charitable Accountability<\/a>.<br \/>\n*Evidently charitable organizations are exempt, but even so, they must remove you from their list &#8211; that is, if you ever get a chance to tell them to do so&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Received a recorded phone message this morning from the Dove Foundation, which rates TV shows, movies and video games for children.
