{"id":203,"date":"2004-10-03T09:26:01","date_gmt":"2004-10-03T14:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=203"},"modified":"2004-10-03T09:26:01","modified_gmt":"2004-10-03T14:26:01","slug":"gardeners-diary-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=203","title":{"rendered":"Gardener&#8217;s Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw two of my Master Gardener friends at the Barnstable Harvest Fair yesterday, one of whom, Inez Narbis, was my teacher a couple of years ago.<br \/>\nInez is an amazing woman: partially paralyzed in a horseback riding accident years ago, she nonetheless maintains a demonstration garden at the Fairgrounds, while keeping up with her full-time job and other County Extension volunteer work.<br \/>\nI see Inez maybe 3-4 times a year at various events, and she&#8217;s always kind enough to give me a big hello.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nYesterday, she asked how my garden turned out this year.  I hated to admit the truth, that I hadn&#8217;t watered enough in the dry summer months, and my perennials have suffered as a result.<br \/>\nFor example, the Montauk daisies, which I so look forward to, are almost bare of any healthy foliage.<br \/>\nI have had good luck with the containers, though, and I guess that counts for something, although not much.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I saw two of my Master Gardener friends at the Barnstable Harvest Fair yesterday, one of whom, Inez Narbis, was my teacher a couple of years ago.
