{"id":193,"date":"2004-09-04T06:56:30","date_gmt":"2004-09-04T11:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=193"},"modified":"2004-09-04T06:56:30","modified_gmt":"2004-09-04T11:56:30","slug":"mud-manure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=193","title":{"rendered":"Mud &#038; Manure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a gardener, I resent the bad rap that mud and manure got this week as a result of their misuse at the Republican National Convention.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nMud and manure are a gardener&#8217;s mainstays, essential to the job of raising healthy, productive plants.<br \/>\nThese staples of the gardener&#8217;s craft are too precious to be throttled about by &#8220;faded glory&#8221; guys like Zell Miller and even Bob Dole.<br \/>\nWhat WILL it take for prominent politicians to keep their hands out of the mud and the bulls* while preaching from their bully pulpits?<br \/>\nSpeaking the truth about the failure of the war against terrorism; tolerance for people of a non-traditional sexual orientation; fiscal responsibility; a pledge to end the pandering to the pharmaceutical industry and other special interests; and a real commitment to protect the environment would be a far superior toolset for use in election campaigns.<br \/>\nAnd the same goes for you, Senator Elizabeth Dole, with your ridiculous, offensive assertion that marriage &#8220;between a man and a woman&#8221; is &#8220;the cornerstone of civilization&#8221;.<br \/>\nWhat does that make the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.findarticles.com\/p\/articles\/mi_m1571\/is_28_17\/ai_76997837\" target=\"_blank\">48% of American households (82 million people and growing)<\/a> who are single &#8211; chopped liver?<br \/>\nOr will you take a pledge to stop spending our tax money, since it obviously comes from reprobates who shake society&#8217;s very foundation with their shameful unmarried status?<br \/>\nMud and manure:  they are a vital part of the repetoire of the farmer and the gardener.
