{"id":134,"date":"2004-06-02T20:46:40","date_gmt":"2004-06-03T01:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=134"},"modified":"2004-06-02T20:46:40","modified_gmt":"2004-06-03T01:46:40","slug":"and-it-only-took-them-two-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=134","title":{"rendered":"And It Only Took Them Two Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>11 year old Ella Gunderson of Bellevue, Washington, made headlines recently as a result of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2004\/US\/West\/06\/02\/modest.clothing.ap\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">letter<\/a> she wrote to the upscale retailer, Nordstrom.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nAnd what was in the letter, you ask?  It was a direct, albeit ungrammatical, request for clothing that wouldn&#8217;t make Ella and her friends looks like Vegas hookers.<br \/>\nThe execs at Nordstrom did write back.  In the meantime, their spokeswoman told CNN that &#8220;the company has been hearing for about two years from customers who want more modest looks.&#8221;<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s TWO YEARS, folks.  TWO YEARS for a supposedly classy outfit like Nordstrom to get the point.  What on EARTH have they been waiting for?<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t know who dictates what the big retailers&#8217; buying habits are supposed to be, but evidently it&#8217;s not their customers.  I have my suspicions.
