{"id":1251,"date":"2009-05-10T07:47:38","date_gmt":"2009-05-10T12:47:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/wp\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2009-05-10T07:47:38","modified_gmt":"2009-05-10T12:47:38","slug":"gardeners-diary-54","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecapeblog.com\/?p=1251","title":{"rendered":"Gardener&#8217;s Diary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a long while: my right knee kicked up again last month, but two evenings ago I dragged out the old push mower and did the lawn, and yesterday felt well enough to do some real gardening and to visit a local plant sale.<\/p><p><!--more--><br \/>\nUntil the back yard gets cleared, which at this point looks like it won&#8217;t happen until the fall at the earliest, I&#8217;m pretty much &#8220;done&#8221; with perennials.<br \/>\nI planted a couple of Stargazers that my nephew Michael had placed at Bis&#8217;s grave, along with six white and purple phlox, in the little garden that used to be shaded by an oak tree in the front.  It&#8217;s really nice to have some color there.<br \/>\nPicked up some desperately-needed new clippers on sale at TrueValue and used them to cut down and cleaned out the hydrangeas in the front.  They won&#8217;t flower this year, but they were getting out of control.<br \/>\nFor the first time, I got to the Falmouth Beautification Council&#8217;s  yearly plant sale at Town Hall Square.
