Day 4

The eye is feeling better, although still weepy and there’s a red spot in the lower center. I hope it’s from the surgery and not from poking it.  Long-distance vision not bad.

Sent the letter of apology to Tom Downs today.

Ron and I gave CJ $20 for his academic triathlon.

Finally got the new PC rolling, and it is great! Debugged NEPS and uploaded the corrections today. Have been able to network somewhat, although with a wireless connection, it’s slow. I was annoying Ron in the second bedroom, so have both laptops running on the same table.

Got the daylily bulbs today but will wait to plant them until I can figure out a way to cover up the left eye.

Eye: Day 3

Hope I didn’t hurt my eye yesterday, I may have poked it. Achy last night. Still taking acetaminophen today.

Eye’s pretty red this morning, but Ron says not more than yesterday.

Still have the feeling of grit in the eye.

Happy Rabbits, Asparagus, Sriracha Sauce

While having supper on the deck, we watched two of “our” rabbits last evening as one jumped into the air and the other jumped over his/her companion. Jumping, or “binkying,” is a sign that they are having a good time.

009We put together a really nice supper: hamburgers, salad, corn, roasted peppers and asparagus from the garden.

005Daff garden is in full bloom.

Made cole slaw with a dressing of sour cream, mayo, sriracha sauce, cider vinegar and sugar for lunch.

All’s Well

Ron has been very busy: taking care of me post-surgery, shopping and today he put together his fondly anticipated DeWalt saw table. I’m pleased for him, he deserves nice things, and at this point, he pretty much has everything he needs for his shop.

We met some or maybe all of the new family across the street. Seem like nice people. Big relief.

Had words with the Town Manager today, who pretty much confirmed her reputation for living in amber.

Good report from the surgeon today, who is pleased that he ‘saved (me) $2,000’. Good doc. My eye felt much better after a shower this morning and has been behaving itself. It’s programmed for distance, though, so reading and keyboarding is a little tough. The right eye will be programmed for reading.

Nice day today.

Hard Work, Merriment, NYT

Got to play washboard with the Rolling Roots Revue of Wepecket Island Records last night at the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford! Complete surprise to be asked.

Cleaned out leaves and composted the peony (also fertilized with 5-10-5), blueberries and backyard Montauks yesterday.

We bought the last six bags of Rooster compost from Valley Farm in Pocasset; doughnuts from the Beach Plum Bakery; and a vegetable slicer on one-day sale from Williams Sonoma.

On Friday, Ron sawed broken tree limbs and cut them up for a transfer station run yesterday. Took him most of the afternoon.

Had a stress test on Friday, did “good enough” to be cleared for surgery, but the doc wanted me to come back for another test later this month.

Ron’s been helping me with eye drops. Yesterday, we brought a box of my LPs downstairs.

I made macaroons and Bistek Tagalog yesterday, oatmeal and chicken pot pie today.

Ron did laundry.

We did the transfer station run and more yardwork: watering, composting. Cleaned up the “stuff” that has been behind and next to the shed for months. Tossed some, cleaned some, recycled some.

Ron may have seen a hummer today.

NYT published my question for the workplace ethicist today. His answer was both helpful and kind.
