Birthdays

February is a big month for birthdays:  Bonnie’s, Emme’s, Ella’s, Kathy’s and Gabriella’s.

I made a batch of gluten-free brownies for Bonnie yesterday.  We brought them to her shop so she could enjoy them away from the greedy ones at home.  Used Bob’s Red Mill: every bit as good as non-gluten free Ghirardelli’s.

Mailed Ella’s card today, did a laundry, worked on some stuff for Jim.  We did a good-sized shop yesterday, partly in preparation for the storm that’s supposed to hit on Thursday night.  We may get up to another foot over the weekend.

Cold and raw today.  29 but feels much colder.

No Snow Sunday

We both fell asleep before 7 last night.  I was up at 5:30; Ron, around 7:15.

We were finished with laundry, transfer station and changing sheets by 3 pm.  Quite mild today, in the mid-30’s.  Roasted Ron’s compost eggshells in the grill.

Good day for streaming videos.  Watched Virunga this afternoon.

Watched Transparent and Alpha House this evening.  Have never seen Ron laugh so hard!

At some point or other, we had roasted vegetables and salad for supper.DSC01838

New Dentist

I’ve been working on pages for Jim and an MVC online tutorial.

Ron lost a couple of fillings yesterday and since our regular dentist couldn’t see him for five days, he made an appointment with a new one, in Mashpee, very near the Commons.

He was so pleased that we both switched over.  I never liked our old dentist much, and as a bonus, I’m pretty sure that the COA would give us a ride to the Mashpee office if we couldn’t drive.

I’ve been cooking: roast vegetables and haddock last night.

Ron has been going a little nuts with shopping this week.  He’s also been happily chopping away at ice.

I just contacted a bunch of FCC Commissioners and our representatives about Net Neutrality.

Post-Superbowl

We watched the game on our computers last night.  Rather, Ron watched it all the way through.  Seeing a team fall behind because of errors upsets me, and there was enough of that to make it more pleasant for me to clean up the kitchen.  Honest.

My right shoulder still hurts, but fortunately, we didn’t get the amount of snow that was predicted, and right now it’s freezing rain.

4:27 pm: just turned back to snow.  Fortunately, I just finished pushing the slush out of the driveway.

Mechanic

We picked up quite a few nice things at the winter farmer’s market at Mahoneys.  Only two farmers, though.

I fixed Ron’s van!

The door locks had frozen into closed position.  I was able to free them up with a big screwdriver.  Similar setup as the hood latches.

I am in a horrible mood, partly because Ron yelled at me about not being able to hear me rather than expressing appreciation, and because one of our neighbors has a lousy, imperious attitude toward us.  If it weren’t for the fact that I’m fond of her son, I’d be tempted to go over there with a baseball bat right now.

I am so fed up with people: on Facebook, in the neighborhood, in the course of everyday commerce.

Hope to be able to laugh about this tomorrow.

Grill Works, More Shoveling

I put the grill back together and it still works.  Kept it burning for a little while today to dry out and to evaporate an accumulation of grease.  Cleaned up greasy snow on the deck, too.

We’d left the kitchen a mess last night.  Cleaned it up this morning.  We did a load of laundry.  Had stupid fun chucking air dry items to Ron to hang up.

DSC01828Dug out a path to the shed and shoveled the front walk and stairs.  Worked with Ron some more on the driveway.

Great news from Trinity: they got the missing signature from Sunova and have passed along our request for meter replacement to NSTAR.

So far, so good on the radon remediation system.
