I’ve had the philosophy for a long time that it was a good idea to do at least one thing every day that I didn’t want to do.

At this age, though, it’s become impossible to grit my teeth and keep it buttoned where other people are concerned.

I’m at the point of no return with people who treat the carb giveaway at the Senior Center as a pseudo-social event.  It’s an exercise in greed and I say, treat it that way.

Similarly with volunteering with the Highfield Gardeners.  Too much phoney comraderie, offered with fake smiles and upturned noses.

I started off on the wrong foot by reading the political news this morning.  Today is the New York state primaries, and the Spoiled Brat Crusade is having temper tantrums and throwing around its usual recipe of slime and innuendos.

It brings back all the lousy things that happened to me in business.  If I could do it all again, I wouldn’t.

I picked up our lean-to shed kit – now out of stock(!) – this morning and Em and I unloaded the entire thing off the truck.  We managed to get all but one piece into the shed and/or the cold frame; Ron helped with the last one, a 4×8 3/8 inch piece of plywood.

Distributed 20 bags of mulch yesterday.  Hope to spread it tomorrow.

Ron had another good day at work.

We were busy yesterday, too – laundry, sheets, transfer station.

Tourism benefits only the wealthy and workers from overseas and out of state, not the average Cape Codder. It creates minimum wage jobs and puts an unreasonable burden on our infrastructure and environment. It’s also indirectly responsible for housing shortages, since in some communities, as many as half of housing units are occupied only part of the year. Community leaders would do well to a) figure out the net benefits of tourism, if any and b) develop alternative sources of revenue. The reason this won’t happen in my view is that the Chambers of Commerce are run by wealthy hotel and restaurant owners and their sycophantic minions.

Ron returned to work today!

Ben dropped by to check out the site of a concrete slab for the new lean-to.

Ron had PT and a visit with his doctor this AM, and managed to lose one of his hearing aids.

Jim set me up with FTP to BABBAGE.  Thank goodness!

Ron’s doctor cleared him today for driving and to return to work, so we had a celebratory lunch at the Lobster Trap in Bourne. This was the view from our table.  (The signal flags spell “LOBSTERTRAP”.)

We also stopped at the Upper Cape Tech greenhouse, which was invaded shortly after we got there by a party of ladies who seemed to be marking time before lunch.  I picked up a pansy 6-pack for the birdhouse planter and two pots of lavender.

I put the dear ones to bed before sunset.  Planted the rest of the White Flower Farm shipment and covered it with Agrabon.  Put Agrabon on the newly potted plants in the cold frame and brought the lavender in for the night.

The stupid grow light failed, so I moved the seed tray to the top of the frig, under a window.  Packed up the light to send back to Amazon.

Here’s my answer to an Ed Schultz groupie/pro-Bernie cow who claimed that “(Hillary) gets so many delegates even from states Bernie wins…even more than he gets.”

It being not too cold, we invited two of our neighbors over for beer and pizza last night.  It was fun to catch up!

We got half the corner garden fence up yesterday, but it’s raining and a bit unpleasant for outdoor work this afternoon, although I did an hour’s worth this morning at Highfield, weeding before the rain started and potting afterwards.

Did the banking, stopped for gas at Cumby’s, Senior Center. iCape, Job Lot and post office.  Falmouth is rerouted with detours all over town.

We redeemed our voucher yesterday for three quarts of Four Seas ice cream and sherbet.

Guess what we had for dinner?

We got the usual chores done: laundry, changing sheets, transfer station run.  Had so much cardboard and so many leaves that it took two trips.

Set up the seedlings and the grow light.

Continued the “hardening off” of the plants for the corner garden.

He already missed one target, Wyoming. He got 56%, not the 84% he needed.
