Firewood

I went with Emma to meet a buyer for her track lighting at the Burger King on the south side of 24 at the 495 intersection. We picked up fence pickets at the Lowe’s in West Bridgewater and she treated to an excellent dinner. We talked for 4 hours straight!

Yesterday at her house, Ron and I stacked two truckloads of the oak that he had cut.

Day before yesterday, the brother of the neighbor across the street at Edgewater asked if we wanted the wood from the maple he’d felled, so I put in a Craigslist ad and it was gone by 5:30 yesterday, along with the rest of the oak from our yard.

After supper, Ron and I cleaned up the driveway so Peter could move the White Whale.

We did a little taxi-ing for the family while Peter was at a seminar in Boston. On Monday, I had a fitting for a foot brace in Westwood. Ed the electrician got the new range hood installed.

Ron got some bad news about his teeth. He needs a tremendous amount of work, about the cost of a new car. He’s worried that he won’t be able to eat unless he has the work done.

I closed out my retirement account to get caught up on bills.

Steve fixed the dishwasher door earlier this week. I checked out a leaf shredder in Osterville but it was too small. The one in Bridgewater looks good but it needs a new part, so am waiting for word on that.

And Yet Another (aw, forget it)

Ron fell into the dishwasher door yesterday and bent the hinges.

We had some gorgeous beef kebabs for supper.  I made a fruit cobbler, too.

The new stove got delivered and installed at Edgewater.

We had a nice visit with Khamla and Dhara at Montillio’s.

Another Day, Another FUBAR

marciakeatingronkeatingLeft my keys in the back door of Ron’s van.

We were heading north on Great Neck Road when I heard an off and on banging. Thought at first we’d hit a can or something in the street. Turns out, it was my keys which, incredibly, hadn’t fallen out.

We visited Rep. Keating’s office to share our views about net neutrality, militarization of police and TPP.

Ron took us to lunch at the Green Lotus Cafe, then dessert at Ben & Jerry’s.

Earlier, Steve came over to fix the oven.

Later, I attended a poetry reading, with tea and sweets, at the Cotuit Library.

Cindy came over to talk with Ron about knee replacement. We had a nice visit over supper. Ron cooked, I made brownies.

Touched base with our plumber about the stove install tomorrow. Hood arrived today.

Got my checks, deposited them in time to clear tonight. BofA has had a shady past, but I for one can’t fault their electronic banking.

And the FUBAR Beat Goes On

Ordered a new stove for Edgewater after coming close to exploding the old one. Lost my S&S card. The oven here has ceased to function.

Appointment with the ortho doc today went well.

Cashed out my Principal account.

Ron drove Bonnie and Robert to work, then home again, and we (Ron drove) brought James to his appointment and back.

Done with Sunday

DSC01919We did the transfer station run – great today, hardly anyone else was there – some shopping at
S&S and Walgreen’s and dropped off a book at the library.

We tried fixing the door and the stove at Edgewater. Gave up.

Did laundry and changed sheets here.

A flock of starlings and a lone Bluejay are in the back yard.

One FUBAR After Another

I broke a lamp today.  Yesterday, I overfilled the bread machine.  It started to smoke when the dough hit the heated coils during the “Bake” cycle. A few days ago, I left a plastic-handled brush in the grill and turned on the grill.

Made fish/clam chowder for supper last night.

Laura and Joe are down for the weekend.

Met with Ed the electrician yesterday to check out the range hood at Edgewater.  Ordered a new one this morning.

We did a preliminary dump run with leaves, sticks and cardboard.

Checked out cost of pickets to repair the fence.

Had some helpful correspondence with NStar yesterday on electricity monitoring equipment.  Want a TED Pro.

Friday on Thursday

Peter’s Jeep is fixed, at least for now, with more work to be done in the future.

I drove Bonnie and Robert to work and did a round trip with Alpha.  That makes the end of the work week (pseudo-Friday) for all of them.

We’ve been taxiing the family since about March 17, although it feels even longer.  Don’t know how Peter gets anything done with so many trips: appointments, tutoring, work schedules.

We finally got Ron’s tow reimbursement from AAA squared away.

April Fool’s

We’re hoping that the Jeep repairs will be finished today.

I’ve been hauling boxes up from the cellar to fill in the new bookshelves.  CDs are heavy.  I ordered 8 pair of bookends.

I’ve missed a few planned events the last few days, but kept a double dental appointment yesterday, one for deep cleaning and one for crown prep.  The dentist discovered that the tooth that will have the crown had a crack.  I’m not surprised, two other teeth in that area also had cracks.  I’ve neglected my mouth for too long because I disliked the old dentist so much – stupid.  This practice in Mashpee is so much better.

Robert has his third day of training today.

Alpha left hir tutoring session after a half hour yesterday because ze wasn’t feeling well, so the three of us crammed into the truck on the way back to Edgewater.
