Planted delphs and the last set of geraniums today.
Sprayed Deadbug on the front gardens this evening before the HS talent show.
Was up early to give a fasting blood sample at C-Lab. Got there 3 minutes before opening. No other patients were there. Incredible.
Ron and I visited two more rehab facilities, one in Wareham and one in Buzzards Bay. We had lunch at Barnicle Bill’s.
Bought a jasmine yesterday for the fragrance. Was told to keep it portable since it needs to be inside for the winter. The intra-web says it likes sun, so it’s on the deck. Pruned it back, hoping for another bloom by the time Ron is done with rehab.
Good soaking rain. Lawn still has brown spots in the back yard. Glad I seeded yesterday.
Ron has two medical appointments today: placement of a heart monitor and an inspection at the surgeon’s office of his poison ivy. He sees the anesthesiologist tomorrow.
We had a really good conversation yesterday with one of the Case Managers at Falmouth Hospital. She gave us leads on the rehab centers they use in this area, which allowed us to check ratings and make decisions on where we’d like Ron to go. She’s the first person who hasn’t tried to give us the run-around on this. We’ve had enough red herrings thrown at us to make a fish fry.
Overseeded the back yard at Edgewater and a small section at Dixon today. We’ve received a small amount of drizzling rain with possible T-storms later.
Set up the two remaining earth boxes today with fertilizer and the rest of the lettuce seed strips. Threw some fertilizer, compost and peat moss around the wisteria.
I think there are birds nesting in Robert’s birdhouse.
We set up a small birdbath yesterday that we got at Christmas Tree in Sagamore. It’s so tacky that it’s cool.
Several strawberry plants have good-sized fruit. Seems early, but maybe not.
I sprayed the roses and the garden by the fence with Captain Jack’s Deadbug. I hope it didn’t kill the bees; I applied it early enough that I think they weren’t active.
I did some watering, laundry and changed the sheets today, and then Ron and I stood for almost an hour and a half at the anti-Pilgrim demonstration in Sagamore. We came home, had lunch and I uploaded photos and updated the O-F website and Facebook. I’m not a happy person physically. My legs bothered me for most of the day and I had an awful bout of IBS this morning.
The swing set is gone, hooray.
We had a really nice time with a dinner guest last night, an old friend of Sandy’s who’s lived on Cape Cod a very long time.
She and I took a turn around the “horseshoe”, and I was horrified to see how much weeding needed to be done in the South corner.
It being a picture-perfect day for gardening, I took that on today, along with pruning the hydrangeas and the Summer Sweet. Weeded around the blueberry bushes as well and put down a big brick (3.8 square feet) of peat moss.
It’s late afternoon; we got back a little while ago from the transfer station and other errands, and I’m beat….
Checked out the lawn and gardens (3) at Edgewater today. Everything looked pretty good.
I planted geraniums in front for color and a second Blue-Eyed Grass today to balance out the new flower garden.
Attaquin Acres is open for the season.
The Morning Glories have started to sprout.
Rain today, which is great except that I’d hoped the swing set would be picked up this morning.
Transplanted two astilbe in the front garden; hope they take. Sowed Hollyhock seeds in the second veggie garden, along the fence next to the tomatoes.
We’ve been listening to the 2012 Essentially Ellington videos. I don’t envy those judges.
P.S. We had a total of 3.25 inches of rain. The lupine have spread!
