Implicit Association Test

Dateline had a two-hour special on the Imus controversy last night. The program included a long segment on the Implicit Association Test, which the public can demo.
I tried it this morning and got the result “Your data suggest a moderate automatic preference for African American compared to European American”.


That is probably due to the fact that I live and work in a mixed race environment with people who are generally civil and even friendly to one another.
This town is the seat of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe, which has a history of intermarriage. Martha’s Vineyard, just off the coast, was the terminus of one branch of the Underground Railroad.
In spite of all the problems on Cape Cod, maybe it’s okay that my grandkids are growing up here.
