Governor-elect Deval Patrick has said he has “more homework to do” on legalizing casinos in Massachusetts.
If nothing else, the fact that Deval differs, even mildly, from Mitt Romney on this matter makes it worthy of consideration.
For whatever it’s worth, my neighbors and I would love to see a casino in Mashpee because of one four-letter word near and dear to our hearts: J-O-B-S, the creation of which was a failed campaign promise of the Romney/Healey administration.
I hope the Gov-elect’s willingness to consider the idea at least opens up some fact-based public debate about the reality of those undefined social consequences we’ve been hearing about for years.
