An Embarassment

Kerry Healey has been my choice for Massachusetts Governor, but her campaign – and the lack of support from her boss, Mitt Romney – has become a confluence of ineptitude, a confederacy of dunces.

For example: this morning’s papers report that the Romney administration hired Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff to inspect recent repairs to the Big Dig tunnels.
That’s right, the same band of thieves who built the Big Dig tunnels in the first place, one of which collapsed and killed a woman last July, has been given oversight of the repairs to correct their lousy workmanship.
Then, of course, there’s Mitt’s shameless grandstanding around the country, trashing Massachusetts at every possible opportunity.
But while I don’t condone Deval Patrick’s former role as an over-enthusiastic defense attorney, I was disgusted by the gang of orange-jumpsuited, “Inmates for Deval Patrick” sign-carrying thugs who converged on the home of Patrick’s campaign manager, John Walsh, last week.
As if that weren’t bad enough, Walsh’s 12 year old boy was home alone at the time.
Campaign workers do get out of control, no question, but that despicable prank deserved more than Healey’s lukewarm admonition:
