Mitt and Gay Marriage

So, our fearless Governor is once again making gay couples his “road to the White House” b

His assertion that “children suffer” when there isn’t a heterosexual couple in the house is a joke. It’s an insult not only to gay people but to single parents, and, worse, it whitewashes the real suffering of children abused by mommy or daddy or both within the confines of their supposedly intact homes.
And who says that every gay couple wants kids?
This is the latest grasping at straws by the religious wrong, and it’s insulting to our intelligence. Since no one was convinced by their ridiculous claim that gay marriage hurts straight people, they’ve latched on to “the children” as their rationale for their relentless homophobia.
I’ve watched and listened to the religious wrong for years, and as far as I can figure out, they have it in for a lot more people than just the gay community, in fact, for most Americans as well as most of the citizens of planet Earth.
The religious wrong are the “modern” followers of Calvinism, a 16th century form of Protestantism which over time, melded fundamentalist notions of salvation with capitalist notions of wealth.
Calvinism corrupted the message of Jesus in a way that is not only anti-Humanist, but anti-human. It is the progenitor of debtors’ prisons, “spare the rod and spoil the child”, the Salem witchcraft trials, and the excesses of the current Administration in Washington, with its corruption and disregard for civic and civil rights.
The privileged Mr. Romney, who has had the benefit of so many blessings, should know better. He is an embarassment to himself and his party. More’s the pity, he may be the millstone that sinks the campaign of an otherwise worthy candidate for Governor, leaving Massachusetts in the hands of an unchallenged Democrat hegemony with links to incompetence, corruption and even gangsterism.
Thanks a pantload, Mitt.
