An Opportunity Missed

I read “The DaVinci Code” a while back. Fortunately, I hadn’t purchased it, just borrowed it from a friend.
Having been interested in the Gnostic Gospels for a long while, I found the book tedious and pedestrian.

When I first encountered the reality of alternative gospels, the experience was illuminating, powerful and uplifting. I’m grateful that my introduction was through a beautifully written scholarly work by Professor Elaine Pagels and not a boring novel with an anti-climactic ending.
Many people have been offended by “The DaVinciCode”, and evidently hordes more have been infuriated by the film.
What a great pity that a magnificent subject has been ruined for so many people due to bad writing and a deliberate, inflammatory distortion of historical fact.
